Developed over many decades and constantly being improved, our camp program uniquely grows with your child. Each division brings age-appropriate programming that combines fun, creativity, and adventure. Each day brings a new schedule packed with activities. For those new to camping, this is nothing like a rec program or sports camp.
There is no “typical day” at Briar Hill. Our schedule varies with the many exciting special events on our calendar. So, whether there are shows, rides, a parade or carnival, special guests or even furry friends visiting our camp, there is always something to keep us on our toes. The following images include examples and descriptions for the primary components of a camp day.
Drop off is a snap at Briar Hill. While still in your car, a counselor greets you curbside and walks your child(ren) to their home base.
Camp-wide gatherings that promote camp spirit, celebrate achievements and special occasions, and create large scale opportunities for fun.
Small group lessons provided by certified instructors. Always held in the morning at scheduled times to make visiting convenient.
Scheduled for the youngest campers and chosen by older campers as electives. Taught by dedicated instructors with a passion for their field.
All food is provided by Briar Hill (nothing required from home). Parents are free to pack alternatives which are refrigerated and
brought to campers at lunch.
Our unique summer calendar is packed with special events. Each group generally has two special events every day.
Age appropriate fun in our heated pools - all safely supervised by a huge team of Lifeguards. Slides, a rolling log, water inflatables, basketball, volleyball and more at various times.
Does your child love sports or art? Love to try something new or pursue a new hobby? Electives are where campers customize their experience. Campers have two elective periods each day.
Place the provided dismissal placard on your dashboard, and we do the rest. Campers are delivered to your car with stories of their
fun-filled day!
Each day brings something new or different! Special events are a unique part of the Briar Hill program as illustrated by our amazing calendar. A new calendar is released every June - often with much fanfare as parents review the coming special events with their excited campers.
Special events take many forms including amazing shows, concerts, games, or rides. They involve many unique and talented guests, such as magicians, acrobats, musicians, mad scientists, and more. Some guests are not even human - ponies, petting zoos, penguins, dog shows, and so on. The possibilities are endless, and each summer brings something new. It is important to note that all special events are brought to Briar Hill. Campers never leave our grounds.
We also have in-house special events supervised by our own dynamic Activity Team. These events are full of variety - everything from a Summer Carnival to building Parade Floats for our themed Summer Parades. We might be a little wild with a Color Run or Glow Party; or a little competitive with Water Wars, a scavenger hunt, or an obstacle relay. We might showcase our talent at Briar Hill’s Got Talent or perhaps build Pinewood Derby cars and race them. Each summer we can hardly wait for the fun to begin!
Electives vary by division - both in what electives are available and in the specific activities chosen for that age group. A sampling of some common electives is shown below. Each summer there is a mix of favorites (some of which are offered multiple times) and brand new options to explore. Electives are always chosen on a weekly basis. A camper will participate in their chosen activity during an elective period which runs throughout the entire week.
