Our Team
Our absolute greatest strength! We are a family camp and we strive to make Briar Hill a summer home for all of our campers and team members. As our families can attest, the difference is profound. At Briar Hill, staffing is not about “filling a position”. It is all about building relationships, growing character, and developing leaders. In short, it is about assembling a passionate, talented team that will deliver the best summer possible!
Our unique approach to team-building is different from any other area camp. It starts with our Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) program, which is typically the only path to becoming a counselor at Briar Hill. CITs become Junior Counselors, who advance to Senior Counselors, and eventually grow into Group Leaders. As a result, our Group Leaders have years of experience at Briar Hill. Because of the family atmosphere and camaraderie, our counselors return year after year, and only upon college graduation do they ultimately leave for the “real world”.
Our Leadership Team are camp professionals that have been with us for years. Most of them are teachers, and many are parents themselves who understand children well. These extraordinary leaders work together by guiding our team to create a safe and amazing experience for our campers. They form the foundation for everything we do as a camp.
The Lynn Family
Mark & Maiya have owned Camp Briar Hill since 2012. Mark was a camper for Briar Hill’s first summer and has worked in almost every area of the camp. He has been the Director on multiple occasions, including for the past 9 summers. Maiya has served in almost every programming area at Briar Hill and worked in the office on multiple occasions. She has been the Program Director for the past 9 summers - designing and implementing much of the fun we have each summer!
Office
Your first point of contact for everything at Briar Hill. These are the smiling faces that greet you upon arrival and the friendly people that answer our phones. They set up everything to make summer great for your camper, and keep everyone connected throughout the summer. If you have a question or concern, the office has the answer or will direct you to the person that does.
Division Coordinators
Experienced members of our Leadership Team overseeing all aspects of our camp groups. Each group has an assigned Division Coordinator that serves as supervisor, coach, and teacher to counselors and campers. Division Coordinators provide support and communication between families and groups. They address any concerns that emerge during the summer and are readily available to our camp parents.
